If you don’t report the way we want you to, you’re a bad reporter and a bad person. (Note that just about every comment in that thread was made by someone I interviewed for the piece. Call the waahmbulance.)
UPDATE: The annoying thing about this is that the basic points that the Damascus Citizens make are valid — the process is under-regulated and potentially dangerous. That said, the neighbors of theirs who I interviewed see them as arrogant, blinkered, and incapable of compromise. IN other words, they find it hard to work with people who accuse them of failing to understand the English language or say that the dispute will lead to “war”. The problem, in other words, is the messengers, not the message.
